The PAX RSQ Cocoon is a rescue and transport system designed for use in emergency medical services, water rescue, and disaster response. The system is engineered for demanding environments such as cold, wet conditions or high-altitude terrain, and facilitates safe and patient-friendly transport.
Heat Retention and Protective Function
The PAX RSQ Cocoon helps maintain body heat through integrated insulating layers and a thermal blanket. A removable, aluminum-coated hood further reduces heat loss around the head. These features help stabilize environmental conditions during transport.
Material System and Moisture Management
The multi-layered material construction made of PAX Dura, PAX PES, and PAX Fleece Tec ensures robust mechanical properties and effective insulation.
The integrated absorbent layer (absorbent fleece) serves exclusively to absorb and bind liquids (e.g., from soaked clothing or bodily fluids) and thus supports a dry environment in the patient contact area. In combination with the aluderm® overlay, moisture distribution within the system is optimized.
Note on regulatory classification:
The absorbent layer and the aluderm® component are integral parts of the overall system and, within this system, serve exclusively a supportive function in fluid management and surface protection. They are not intended as standalone medical devices or replacement parts with a medical purpose and, in particular, are not intended for the diagnosis, therapy, or treatment of injuries.
Safe and Standard-Compliant Patient Transport
The PAX RSQ Cocoon features a total of ten handles, enabling ergonomic and as gentle as possible rescue and repositioning. The system is designed for a maximum load of up to 320 kg.
As a medical device, the PAX RSQ Cocoon is tested and designed in accordance with the applicable requirements of DIN EN 1865-1.
Access and Care During Transport
Multiple zipper openings on both sides allow access to the patient at any time. This enables visual checks, first aid measures, and monitoring of vital signs without having to reposition the patient. The system can be fully opened to ensure rapid care.
Compact Storage
Optimized for use, the PAX RSQ Cocoon can be vacuum-packed and reduced to a thickness of approx. 12 cm. This enables space-saving storage and rapid availability when needed.
