PAX RSQ Cocoon – Rescue and transport system

The PAX RSQ Cocoon is a rescue and transport system designed for use in the emergency medical services, water rescue and civil protection. The system is designed for demanding environments such as cold, wet conditions or high-altitude alpine terrain, and facilitates safe and patient-friendly transport.

Heat retention and protection

The PAX RSQ Cocoon helps to retain heat through integrated insulating layers of material and a thermal blanket. A detachable, aluminium-coated hood further reduces heat loss from the head area. These features help to stabilise environmental conditions during transport.

Material system and moisture management

The multi-layered material construction comprising PAX Dura, PAX PES and PAX Fleece Tec ensures robust mechanical properties and effective insulation. The integrated absorbent layer (absorbent fleece) serves exclusively to absorb and bind liquids (e.g. from soaked clothing or bodily fluids), thereby helping to maintain a dry environment in the area in contact with the patient. In combination with the aluderm® overlay, moisture distribution within the system is optimised.

Note on regulatory classification:

The absorbent layer and the aluderm® component form part of the overall system and, within this system, fulfil exclusively a supporting function in fluid management and surface protection. They are not intended as stand-alone medical devices or replacement parts for medical purposes and, in particular, are not intended for the diagnosis, therapy or treatment of injuries.

Safe and standard-compliant patient transport

The PAX RSQ Cocoon features a total of ten handles, which enable ergonomic and, where possible, gentle rescue and repositioning. The system is designed for a maximum load of up to 320 kg.

As a medical device, the PAX RSQ Cocoon has been tested and designed in accordance with the applicable requirements of DIN EN 1865-1.

Access and care during transport

Multiple zip-opening access points on both sides allow access to the patient at any time. This enables visual checks, first-aid measures and the monitoring of vital signs to be carried out without the need to reposition the patient. The system can be fully opened to ensure rapid treatment.

Compact storage

Optimised for use, the PAX RSQ Cocoon can be vacuum-packed and reduced to a thickness of approx. 12 cm. This enables space-saving storage and rapid availability when needed.
