PAX Connection and Carrying System for Halligan Tool + Axe
PAX Connection System: Halligan Tool + Axe – A strong combination for every situation
Whether in the event of a fire or during a rescue operation – the ‘Set of Irons’ is now part of the standard equipment on fire engines and rescue vehicles for fire services worldwide. Other organisations, such as the Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) and even police response units, are also increasingly coming to appreciate this multifunctional set comprising a Halligan tool and an axe or splitting maul. With the new connection system from PAX Bags, using breaching tools is as simple, quick, safe and convenient as any emergency responder could wish for in the heat of the moment.
Always one hand free for what matters most
Opening doors, lifting bonnets, creating access points for hydraulic rescue equipment or gaining entry to a burning building – the range of applications for breaching tools in the fire service is vast. Just as vast is the amount of equipment that advance teams must carry to the scene. In an uncertain situation, every free hand is worth its weight in gold.
Thanks to the PAX connection system, the Halligan tool, splitting hammer and other tools are firmly connected to one another, leaving the firefighter’s second hand free for tasks such as carrying the door-opening rucksack. But this integrated carrying method also offers a decisive advantage during breathing apparatus operations, as the second hand can be used for active search operations, maintaining contact with a team-mate or carrying the fire hose.
Implementing flexible standard operating procedures
Thanks to the fixed connection between the typical breaching tools, the ‘set of irons’ can be loaded together in the equipment compartment straight away. This ensures that no tool is left behind in the heat of the moment. This is not only practical but also saves time-consuming trips back to the vehicle.
At the same time, this simple yet practical solution from PAX helps ensure the efficient implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for door opening and related tasks. In practice, the PAX connection system is compatible with various axes and fire service axes, as well as different variants of the Halligan tool and the Kelly tool. This allows individual tools in the ‘set of irons’ to be swapped out, thereby guaranteeing maximum flexibility.
PAX’s tamper-proof securing system
As is customary with PAX, the PAX Bags connection system impresses with its simple design. This makes it easy to use, even under the greatest operational stress. Packing everything away after a call-out is also incredibly simple thanks to the robust Velcro fastening – it takes just seconds and requires no additional straps. The key feature: the PAX connection system can be securely attached to either of the two tools, and simply needs to be looped once around the shaft of the other tool to bind them together into a single package. This makes the fastening system virtually impossible to lose. Another practical feature is the lifting tab, designed in the high-visibility colour fluorescent yellow. Even in the dark or in zero-visibility conditions during respiratory protection operations whilst wearing thick gloves, visibility and handling are ideal. All in all, the PAX connection system is the practical, ergonomic and cost-effective solution for transporting tools.
