The PAX warming blanket - THX 2.0 is an important component of an active hypothermia prevention strategy, designed to increase patient comfort and prevent hypothermia in the preclinical phase.
A low body temperature is not only very uncomfortable for the patient, but can also lead to serious physiological changes in blood clotting, oxygen consumption, and the cardiovascular system:
- Shivering > Increased oxygen demand
- Reduction in enzyme activity > decreased blood clotting
- Electrolyte shifts > cardiac arrhythmias up to circulatory arrest
- Decreased brain activity > clouding of consciousness up to unconsciousness
- Circulatory disorders due to vasoconstriction
- Respiratory disorders, pulmonary edema up to respiratory arrest
- A disturbance of thermoregulation, which is still very common in preclinical emergency situations, further worsens the patient's condition, in addition to the direct effects of their injury or illness.
The PAX thermal blanket - THX 2.0 is an important component of an active hypothermia prevention strategy
Appropriate temperature management measures, with passive heat retention and moderate active heat supply, prevent or at least greatly reduce additional stress on the patient.
The PAX heated blanket – THX 2.0 provides heat to the central body area, focusing on the patient's thorax, which reduces the risk of cold blood being redistributed from the outer body to the core (afterdrop). Heat supply to the chest warms the underlying thoracic organs, resulting in a natural, physiological distribution of heat through the bloodstream.
The innovative PAX temperature management system with PAX heating blanket - THX 2.0 and PAX Power Pack is ready for immediate use and can be safely stored in the optionally available bag for transport.
Patient-proximal temperature sensors, double-secured circuit breakers, and the integrated control unit of the PAX Power Pack guarantee a safe, quickly available, and uniform surface temperature of the PAX heated blanket – THX 2.0.
The compact PAX Power Pack enables mains-independent, highly mobile use of the PAX temperature management system and guarantees a long operating time of several hours.
The high-frequency welded outer shell, made of certified PAX Flex-Tec MP material, provides additional protection for the robust heating element of the PAX heated blanket – THX 2.0 and enables quick reprocessing through hygienic wipe disinfection with the most common surface disinfectants.

The operating time/battery life of the PAX Power Pack - 60/2 is up to 12 hours under normal use. The actual running time depends on factors such as the patient's body temperature, the ambient temperature at the place of use, and the immediate surroundings of the PAX heated blanket - THX 2.0. If the PAX heating blanket - THX 2.0 is covered on both sides (patient-> PAX heating blanket - THX<-patient blanket), energy consumption is significantly reduced.
Charging time
The charging time for the PAX Power Pack - 60/2 is approximately 160 minutes to charge from 10% to 100%. It is not possible to use the device while it is charging. The PAX Power Pack - 60/2 is charged via (the power plug) the PAX Power Pack charger.
