PAX Vacuum mattress – Ergo-Mat – handles – TMS

The PAX Ergo-Mat vacuum mattress with integrated head restraint has been specially developed for professional use in the ambulance service and in emergency medicine. It enables safe, comfortable and patient-centred immobilisation – particularly where spinal or multiple injuries are suspected.

Thanks to the patented head-restraint system, combined with the integrated neck support, hyper-reclination of the cervical spine is effectively prevented. The head-restraint is deflated together with the mattress, thus ensuring that the head is held in a particularly stable position during transport.

The ergonomic shape and flexible multi-chamber system allow for optimal adaptation to the patient’s body contours. Once the air has been evacuated, a dimensionally stable unit is formed, ensuring reliable immobilisation whilst offering a high level of comfort.

For quick and intuitive use, the mattress is fitted with colour-coded TPU securing straps. Sturdy, enclosed carrying handles and an optional handle bar facilitate handling in day-to-day use. The internally welded loop eyes ensure a smooth surface and make cleaning particularly easy.

This PAX vacuum mattress is fitted with the Temperature Management System. This component is highlighted in red; the battery is located beneath the head support. 

Quick overview (Quick Facts)

System check

• Briefly press the power button
• Solid green light → battery fully charged
• Flashing green light → battery between 75% and 35%
• Solid red light → battery below 35% (no need to worry, approx. 2 × 45 minutes remaining)
• Flashing red light → system defect

Start-up

• Press the power button for 2 seconds
• System starts in maximum heating mode (40 °C)
• Press again to reduce to 36 °C
• Press again to reduce to 32 °C

Operation

• Temperature is reached after 2–3 minutes
• Important: only when the patient is lying on the pad (heat build-up)
• Temperature is monitored by sensors
• The system switches off automatically after 45 minutes

Runtime / charging time (battery)

• At -10 °C approx. 3.5 hours runtime (average 75 kg patient) at highest heating level; heavier patients accordingly longer
• Charging time of an empty battery: approx. 3 hours at 220 V

Cleaning

• When the system is closed, it is water and splash resistant
