PAX Vacuum Mattress – Ergo-Mat – Safe Immobilisation

The PAX Ergo-Mat vacuum mattress with integrated head restraint has been developed for professional use in the ambulance service, emergency medicine and patient transport. It combines ergonomic positioning with reliable immobilisation and helps paramedics to provide safe care for patients even under challenging conditions.

Patented head restraint for maximum stability

A key feature of the Ergo-Mat is its patented head-restraint system with integrated neck support. During evacuation, the head-restraint is vacuum-sealed together with the mattress, forming a stable unit. This reliably secures the head and reduces the risk of hyperreclination of the cervical spine during stretcher transport and patient transfer.

Anatomical adaptation for greater comfort

The two-layer, multi-chamber system with EPS beads adapts perfectly to the patient’s body contours. Once the air has been evacuated, a dimensionally stable support surface is created, which enables effective immobilisation whilst simultaneously improving lying comfort. The even pressure distribution helps to minimise pressure sores during prolonged transport.

Ergonomically designed for emergency services personnel

The PAX Ergo-Mat not only facilitates patient care but also makes the day-to-day work of emergency services personnel easier. Depending on the model, robust individual handles or a continuous handle strip are available, allowing the mattress to be transported safely even in narrow stairwells or over rough terrain. Colour-coded TPU securing straps enable quick and intuitive patient securing.

Hygienic and durable

The internally welded loop eyelets ensure a smooth surface and facilitate cleaning and disinfection after use. Specially developed PAX materials are used in its manufacture: the surface facing the patient offers a high level of comfort, whilst the underside is designed to be particularly robust and abrasion-resistant. This makes the Ergo-Mat suitable for daily professional use.

Scope of supply

The scope of supply includes, amongst other things:

• TPU securing straps
• Strap extensions
• Securing straps for head immobilisation
• Matching carry bag

This means the vacuum mattress is ready for use straight out of the box and can be stowed away in the ambulance to save space.

For modern emergency care concepts

The PAX Ergo-Mat is particularly suitable for immobilising patients with suspected spinal injuries, pelvic injuries or fractures of large long bones. Thanks to its ergonomic design, it offers a high level of patient comfort compared to rigid immobilisation systems and, in many cases, allows radiological examinations such as X-rays or MRI scans to be carried out without the need to reposition the patient.

As a medical device, the PAX vacuum mattress meets the requirements of the EU Medical Devices Regulation (MDR) and complies with the relevant standards for professional emergency medical services. On request, it can also be permanently marked with a unique owner identification to enable clear identification during day-to-day operations.
