Whether in the event of a fire or in a rescue operation - the "Set of Irons" has become a standard piece of equipment for fire-fighting and rescue vehicles in fire brigades all over the world. Other organisations such as the German Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) and even police task forces are increasingly appreciating the multifunctional set of halligan tool and axe or splitting hammer. With the new connection system from PAX Bags, the use of breaking tools is as simple, fast, safe and comfortable as a task force could wish for in the heat of the situation.
Always one hand free for the essentials
Opening doors, opening engine bonnets, creating starting points for hydraulic rescue equipment or creating access to the fire area - the range of uses for crushing tools in the fire service is large. Just as large as the need for material that has to be brought to the scene of the fire by the advancing squads. Every free hand is worth its weight in gold, especially in an unclear situation.
With the PAX Connection System Halligan + Axe, the Halligan tool, splitting hammer, etc. are firmly connected to each other, leaving the second hand free, e.g. for the door-opening backpack. But the joint carrying method also offers a decisive advantage in breathing protection operations, as the second hand can be used for active search, contact with the squad partner or carrying the jet pipe.
Implementing flexible standard rules of engagement
Thanks to the fixed connection between the typical breaching tools, the "set of irons" can be loaded together in the equipment room right away. In the heat of the moment, no tool can be forgotten. This is not only practical, but also saves time-consuming trips back to the vehicle.
At the same time, the simple but practical solution from PAX helps to efficiently implement standard rules of engagement (SER) for door opening and the like. In practice, the PAX connection system is compatible with various axes and fireman's axes as well as with different variants of the Halligan tool and the Kelly tool. This enables the exchange of individual tools in the "set of irons" and thus guarantees the greatest possible flexibility.
The PAX captive locking system
As you would expect from PAX, the fastening system of PAX Bags impresses with its simple design. This makes it easy to handle even in the greatest operational stress. The robust Velcro strap also makes it easy to pack up after use, without having to attach additional straps in seconds.
The highlight: The PAX connection system is optionally attached securely to one of the two tools and thus only needs to be placed once around the shaft of the other tool to connect them into a package. This makes the securing system virtually captive. Another practical feature is the lift tab, which is designed in the signal colour daylight yellow.
Visibility and handling are ideal even in the dark or under zero visibility when wearing breathing apparatus and thick gloves. The bottom line is that the PAX connection system is the practical, ergonomic and inexpensive solution for transporting tools.
